About ASF:

Under the control of the Secretary to the Government of Pakistan for Aviation, the Airports Security Force (ASF) protects Pakistan’s airports, airport facilities, and aircraft. It takes anti-terrorism measures, prevents crime, and maintains law and order at Pakistan’s airports to protect the civil aviation industry against unlawful interference.

ASF is currently led by Major General Zafar Ul Haq HI(M). Initially, the ASF functioned under the Department of Civil Aviation under the Airport Security Force Act LXXVII of 1975. The Airports Security Force (ASF) was established following the hijacking of a Pakistan International Airlines jetliner in March 1981, but given the contradictory interests of security and ease of life, it was placed within the Ministry of Defence in December 1983.
